Healthy festive sides and sweets: Discover Tasmania's local seasonal produce & how to cook it!

​Get creative & experience hands on learning as we cook healthy innovative dishes to complement your festive table.

Prepare Gluten Free options, vegetarian, low sugar sweeties and discover how to rework your leftovers into something delicious the next day. Alison will share her shopping tips, knowledge of local produce, tricks of the trade plus a host of cost saving eco friendly ideas you can put into practice in your own home.

​Don't forget to bring your appetite, as you're needed to help taste-test all the cookery!  ​This workshop is suitable for adults.

• Apron, hair tie, closed in flat shoes & food friendly clothes for cooking.

Beginner Bees includes equipment needed, how to put it together, understanding bees and bee behaviour, bee life cycle, dealing with stings, the smoker and its use, different hive options and their advantages and disadvantages, hive positions, food sources for bees, pest and diseases, hive registration, inspecting a Langstroth hive, hive maintenance through the seasons. Provided the weather is good, we spend significant time at the hive so you learn how to gently work with the bees. Good reading resources and information on where to purchase bees or collect swarms is provided.

Every second Saturday of the month from 1-3pm. Come and join us, bring any garden things you have excess of that you would like to share. 

As always, everyone is welcome with or without tools - the main point is to work together and share all our garden questions, solutions and general combined wisdom.

Every Sunday, come rain hail or shine, a busy street in the heart of Hobart transforms into a bustling farmers’ market. It’s all about Tasmanian produce and getting to know your farmer.

The market operates EVERY Wed 12.30pm to 4pm. Come and purchase your weekly supply of veg, fruit, meat, bread, honey, eggs, preserves, ferments, delicious ready to eat meals and more!

We are looking for volunteers to help us with our Climate Solutions Project, which sets out to engage with industry, business, community, and government to develop, promote and implement plans for Tasmania to become carbon neutral by 2035 and a net sink for the remainder of the century. The plans will be practical, evidence-based and non-partisan so that all Tasmanians can get behind them.

The two volunteer positions involve researching solutions and communicating them and other information about the project. For each positions we are looking for people who can commit to a day a week for at least 3 months.

At this briefing our Executive Officer, Todd Houstein, will give an overview of the project and the volunteer roles and answer your questions.

Join us in crafting a community response to the challenge of 'imagining a different future' that is a fair and effective response to climate change, focusing on Tasmania but with the whole world in mind.
