Heat pumps (also known as reverse cycle air conditioners) are by far the most efficient form of electric heating, achieving efficiencies at least three times greater than other heaters. Find out more.

We have developed a comparison of heater types, calculated to heat a typical Tasmanian living area to give the best ‘apples-to-apples’ comparison possible.

Your Home provides a great overview of the various heating options available and the Choice online guide to home heating helps work out which heater is right for your home.

Remember to put on a jumper before turning on a heater. Only heat the areas you are and shut doors and ensure your windows are covered with heavy curtains or blinds which seal at the top and bottom. Also seal draughts around windows, doors and vents.
